Snow Glorious Snow

Well, it has been a record snow year so far...and as you may have guessed I am in seventh heaven...

We have had over three weeks of sub-zero weather and it has finally warmed up into the 20's...just perfect!

Can ya see me now?

Snow, snow everywhere snow! Mama says we are running out of places to put it all!

Let the snow fly and land where it may. It is light and fluffy, just the way I like it.

I could do this all day long but mama says she's getting cold and wants to go in.

OK , but let's do this again tomorrow! I'm always rarin' to go!

I know some of you are talking about Spring already. We are months way from thoughts of Spring, and deep into Winter. And getting deeper!

Backyard Encounter

I was just minding my own business playing Frisbee in the back yard with Mama and who should appear...

but another one of them pesky moose. I am not a big fan of moose invading my home space.

This one seemed real curious about what I was up too. We have had a lot of snow this year and the moose are hungry and crabby.

It just kept on coming with it's head down, not sure what that meant but I finally dropped my Frisbee and high-tailed it up onto the porch.

It walked right up to my Frisbee and gave it a good sniff. Guess it was wondering what all the fuss was about. It did not seem as impressed with my toy as I am. Silly moose! Mama says they aren't very bright.

I gave it a few good barks just to assert my territorial dominance before mama called me into the house and closed the cat door. Oh, the indignity of it all. That moose had better leave my Frisbee alone or I will have to kick it's butt!

Cheap Fun

Who knew I could have so much fun for less than three dollars! Mama rarely shops at Wal-Mart but she does go there for one item...the big ball! She came home with two this week...bring on the fun!

Yee Haw! The game is on!

You might have a little trouble keeping up with me...I'm a blur!

Things were going like gang busters until I chased it up a neighbors drive , around their garage and along their back fence. The snow is so deep, can you see the top of my head and the ball back by the fence?

Mama said the snow was too deep for her and I was on my own.

So I killed it and brought it back! This is so much easier than trying to herd it in the snow!

Now I must shake it and tear it to pieces. That's how its done!

Mama rescued a piece and threw it into the deep snow...

You're a mean Mama! Help me!!!

So that was a heck of a lot of fun for $2.89 We have so much snow this year that we might break some long standing records! We have a leak in the roof that should get fixed as soon as it warms up enough, but we are doing fine and keeping warm, no worries.

Yup, we made it into the New Year. I know we haven't posted in a while, but are doing fine. It has been snowing like crazy here and it's coming down as mama does this blog entry (finally!) for me.

I got a new 'glow in the dark' Frisbee and a basketball for Christmas, turns out I am a great soccer player and goalie. Who knew? I can even herd this thing, although it took a few days to get the hang of it.

Mama had to use her little camera because her good one was in her car that was stuck up in the mountains. Dad took it out at four in the morning to fix something up there and got it stuck. So her camera sat up there in the ten below zero weather over night since dad didn't know it was in there. Anyhow, that kinda explains the picture quality...

As we spent more time outside playing in the driveway mama said the camera had more and more trouble focusing due to the cold. She finally had to give up taking pictures and just join in the game.

Then my footsies started to ice up and freeze...man! I rarely complain about the cold but it is really bitter cold out today!

Hey, Mama! Lets go back inside and warm up, I think I've had enough for now.

Mama did get her camera and car back after two days. Dad, after several failed attempts to dig it out and a near moose attack relented and called a tow truck. Now I just have to bite her in the butt to get back outside and shoot some more pictures of me!

Hi friends! I sure enjoyed all your comments on my last snowy blog. I actually get hot playing in the snow and have to take breaks to eat some snow and roll in it a bit to cool off. It's all that Frisbee and stick chasin'.

Mama called this shot "Turkey in the Straw". I don't get it?

I think this snow is getting a little deep!

Mama says Christmas is coming so she wanted me to pose by the tree, she is really weird !

But I love her so I do it just for her. Happy Holidays everyone!

Mama took me to the dog park. It warmed up to 17 degrees F and we both had fun in the snow.

I met another Aussie going, as we were coming.

I was kicking up powder and getting some air. Just look at me levitate. Whooo hoooo!

The wind picked up and started blowing the snow out of the trees. Watch out, avalanche!

You're not gonna fall on me, are you?

Mama likes bokeh.

Sometimes I find it terribly hard to give up my Frisbee, even when I want mama to throw it. I just can't unclench. Do any of you have that problem?

And do you think I need me some ski goggles?

We got plenty of the white stuff, and it keeps on coming.

Moonlight Frisbee games are oh so much fun!

But Frisbee is fun anytime of the day or night!

We get more Moose visitors in the winter than we do in the summer. They come down from the higher elevations to get away from the deeper snow and partake of the planted yards.

Playing Catch-up

We are playing catch-up with some fall photos today. Then we can show you all the snow we got this week!

Here I am sporting my "Support Breast Cancer Research" bandana.

Me and my best buddy Mort.

Morty is one cool dude. If I push it too far he lets me know with a nip or a scratch and makes me yelp!
But that is my big clue to back off and I usually go and lay down a few feet away from him till he is ready to play again. And play he will! He likes to rub all over me and will throw himself at me in flying attack hugs. He is a barrel of fun!

We have had many visits from our neighborhood moose. I am not to pleased when they come into my yard but mama has taught me that they are God's creatures too and need to roam and forage for food.

They are very big. Funny though how the cats are not afraid. In fact, the neighbor lady in back of us said she saw our cat Mickie nose to nose with one of these big moose out in our backyard. Oh how mama wishes she could have gotten a photo of that!

And last but certainly not least, here is a shot of me visiting folks at the Cancer Infusion Center. I enjoy my visits as much as the patients do. We all get happy and I have a fun time.

We have gotten at least a foot of snow now so our next post we will have to throw you a virtual snowball!

We picked four cats that look very much like our four.

This kitty is named Jerri, she is a 12 year female that looks just like our Morty.

This gorgeous guy could be our Kosmo Kitty. His name is Captain Hook and he is a 6 month old male.

This could be Mickie's twin sister and her name is Clara. There is no
age listed for her.

This here kitty looks just like our sweet Karma. He is a neutered male with no name or age.

These are just a few of the beautiful cats and dogs available at our local kill shelter. We sure hope they all find good homes!

We headed up into the the mountains that look down on our fair city. It was a crisp fall afternoon, the air smelled of cranberries.

There is nothing better than running wild and free in Alaska!

It is only a 15 minute drive to all this beauty from our house.

Since we were up there it has snowed, and we got a few flakes down at our house on the 19th of October.

Mama says it time for her to put the snow tires on the car. Winter will be here any day now. I don't need no stinking snow tires...I'm ready now!

Summer projects completed

My mama worked on a few projects this summer. She had a boarder poured around our dry stream bed mound in the front yard. Here are the results...

It helps keep the bark in place and looks pretty cool.

She also designed and helped build a privacy wall on two sides of the deck that face the street.

I am a lucky dog, I get the very best grass fed, hormone and antibiotic free, organic raw meat (with bone,organ and a smidgin of vegi's.) Bravo Raw is what I mostly eat plus some Ox tails, Chicken backs and wings, and lots of meaty raw bones to gnaw on. But some dogs are not so lucky, some dogs go hungry. The thought of it makes me shudder!

Puppy update!

My half siblings are growing fast and dang are they cute. It is puppy fix time.... get your fix right here!

JACE (male)

Jace's name means moon. He's a very handsome blue merle boy with a distinctive dark patch on his face.

CELINA (female)

Celena's name also means moon. She has amazing copper for a newborn. What a pretty girl!

LONDON (male)

London's name means Fortress of the Moon. He's a gorgeous blue merle boy with a big blaze and half collar.

LUNA (female)

Luna means The Moon. Luna is our smallest girl with lots of pretty white to compliment her silvery-blue merling.

MIKODA (female)

Mia's name means Power of the Moon. She's a stunning silver-blue merle coloring with a pretty white collar.

MING YEU (male)

Ming's name means bright moon. He is currently the smallest in the litter and has unique black patches over each eye like a panda bear. He also has a striking full white collar that connects down both from legs.

SOMALI (male)

They are growing up handsome and healthy. Mom is still in love with Ming and Somali. But I am a one man show! Cute as they are I just don't wanta share my mama's affections.

Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least six (6) feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush. (I keep my toothbrush in the living room now !)

Turtles can breathe through their butts.(I know some people like that, don't you?) Now go move your toothbrush !!!

Berry Picking Season

It is berry picking season and we have had a lot of fun doing just that! Not that we got all that many berries but the experience was fun none the less.
We started our adventure up at Alyeska and did find some tasty blueberries, but it was a struggle for mom to get to them and the heavy rain drenched us. But I had a great time anyhow running and playing frisbee.

The following weekend we headed in the opposite direction, north to Hatcher's Pass. There we also encountered rain but had more success with the berries and the scenery was spectacular once again!

This is the Independence mine ( in Hatcher's Pass) of mom's youth. It has been reconstructed and now looks like this...

Mom got most of her blueberries on this slope around this old cabin. She was slip slidin' around in the mud and the rain. I think I will need to give her a bath when she gets home. Maybe she should ride in the back of the car too. She's too dirty to ride up front!

We were keeping an eye out for bear. They are also berry picking in these parts although we did not see any this day.

The road to get up here is long and bumpy with big old rocks sticking up out of the mud...

I saw several beaver dams...

Being above the tree line they must work very hard obtaining brush to eat and build their homes.

Mom warned me to steer clear of the beaver as they are very protective and have been know to gut a dog. OK, no problem mom. I will keep my distance!

Mom also picked Crow Berries. They were much more prolific and easier to pick. She ended up putting them in her smoothies but they make a great pie as well.

The crow berries were very thick along this ridge.

Well, you can't live long in Alaska with out trying your paw at gold panning. At least that was my experience. It also makes for fun male bonding time with dad.

He chose the Little Susitna River for this adventure.

Do you see any gold, huh dad, huh???

Well, we did get some flakes of gold. Enough to want to come back and do it again!

So there is gold in these here hills and streams. Pawing for gold is fun!

More Puppies !!!

I have very exciting news. My doggy mama Gracie had her third and last litter of puppies! August 13th she delivered 7 babies, 4 boys and 3 girls, all blue merles like me. Since they were born on a full moon they have all have moon themed names.

Just look at all those little wiggle butts! My mama rocks!

This is Ziggy. He is the daddy to this litter, but not my daddy. He is much smaller than my dad.

Crazy August

This August has been a crazy busy month. I have had some grand adventures and the garden has grown...

The moose ate all our lettuce, no big deal to me as I don't like lettuce.

I made more trips to the dog park...

Took some naps...

and had some good eats!

I of course played frisbee!

And watched the gardens grow : )

We went to the store and mom got me a new Frisbee!

I wanted a cookie but mom got me a healthy snack instead.

She is always looking out for me. (don't tell her but I would have preferred the pretty cookie!)

So as you can see I am having a pretty fabulous August. And it's not over yet so there is more to come!

We continue to have some nice sunny days and some rainy days. I like the sunny days best!

Oh, I hear mom calling. Lets go see what she wants...

Hot digitty dog! We's gonna have some fun!

It's bubble time! Mom wanted to get some pretty bubble photos like BCX4 and 1 more does but I just can't hold still. I must pop every single bubble and do it in record time!!!!

Let's see if one will land on my tongue? It works with snowflakes.

Well, it sure don't taste like chicken.

I'm getting tuckered out. Good fun mom, Thanks!

Only thing is, these bubbles taste terrible. Mama, call the company and tell them to make a mouse flavor for me.

Mom is back to work, * heavy sigh*. She was busy this week helping to get the kids registered for school. She checks their health history with the parents and makes sure their shots are up to date. The kids don't come back till the 16th but mom has seminars and in-services and other things to do to prepare for their arrival.
But she hasn't totally forgot me...

Yes, I have the green grass stripe of fun on my face!

I've been to the dog park.

Made a new friend. His name is Arttie and he is half Pitty and half Corgie. He is a gentleman and a ball to play with as he likes to chase and be chased just like me. For a change I got to do the chasing!

We met another blue eyed Aussie! He was very nice. I find some a bit over bearing but he was very kind to me.

Oh, look, he still has his tail! What a lucky guy he is. I wish I had a tail! Well, I do have a stub of a tail. When I wag it my whole but wags with it!

We met this crazy girl on our way out. Boy was she wound up tight!

I think she wanted to eat me for lunch! No worries though, just exuberant play!

Mom says she apologizes for not blogging much the past week and she will try and do better. We'll see...

Love the Saturday Farmers Market!

Saturdays in the summer we get up early and go to the local farmers market. They have another Huge Saturday Market downtown with some fresh produce, tons of art work and other stuff. It has a lot of cooked foods and is really set up for the tourist trade.

We go to our little one near our house to get fresh eggs and produce. It is a great place to meet and greet my doggy friends and get oh so much attention from all the people.

Folks are kind enough to drop food all over the ground which makes us happy to perform our cleaning duties.

Mom has a list made up for this up coming Saturday...eggs, corn, bread, a free head of lettuce!

And from the Red Beet stand she wants to try their rhubarb strawberry juice. We have a bunch of rhubarb and strawberries to harvest at home. "Excuse me, waitress! I'd like some of that fresh squeezed juice for my mama and I'll have a raw steak and bowl of milk please."

What do you mean the world doesn't revolve around me? Can that be???

Mama said today she is taking over the blog to share photos of some of our other finned and furry household friends! Well, maybe just this once. Cuz I really do believe the world revolves around me, I do.

Mama has a 55 gallon fish tank that sits between the entry area and the living room. In it are many different kinds of fish, most of them Rainbow fish from Australia. Do you detect a theme there? Australian fish, Australian Shepherd??? Anyhow they are very colorful for freshwater fish and she has had them longer than she has had me so they are really old!

She has red, turquoise , Praecox, Boeseman's and thread fin rainbow fish.

This is the Red Rainbow. Looks like you need to clean the glass on that tank mom!

Mom says they look like hump back salmon or Humpy's.

This photo is a bit blurry but really shows the intense color of these fish.

What do they have in common? Both are handsome, charming, sexy, happy, easy going, athletic, intense, and a little silly. They have a certain innocence and modesty that I find endearing. Both have great smiles and like dogs! Ewan recently adopted a shelter dog after falling in love with the dog staring in his latest movie "Beginners".

I fell in love with Ewan when I first discovered him in Moulin Rouge, even though I had seen him in other films prior. Now I never miss a movie with him in it.

awesome...going to the big screen to see a good movie with buttered unhealthy popcorn!

Strolling Time

That's right, its time to take a stroll through mom's flower garden and sniff all the flowers in bloom.

First off are mom's new hydrangeas. She fell in love with the new color and plans to winter them over in a greenhouse so she can enjoy them again next summer.

So there you have it, a little taste of summer in Alaska. We live our summers hard and fast as the snow can come as early as late September. Summer is short but sweet!

Post Bath time is Fun Time!

I don't like getting a bath...

But when the water goes off and the towels come out I go nuts and have a ball!

After a good rub down mom shouts "Toweley" and I run to my big towel and roll, wiggle and squirm like a little maniac!

I jump up, spin around, shake, and then throw myself back down on my towel and do it all again. Mom and Dad laugh and laugh at me. We all have a fun time!

The cats all run and hide. They just don't get it.

Now if we could just skip the soap and water stuff it would be fine with me. Mom and Dad ohh and ahh over how good I smell and how fluffy my coat is. I feel special : )

Baths aren't all bad.

1. My dad is a geek and proud of it.
2. My mama has so many hobbies, she just loves to make things and grow things. She can't wait to retire so she can spend more time doing the things she loves most. And top of the list is me!
3. Mom and dad don't have any children, me and the cats are their kids.
4. Mama loves all animals and loves to scuba dive. She has even dove in the cold waters here in Alaska.
5. Mama was born in Anchorage, Territory of Alaska just before it became a State.
6. Mama is a pediatric nurse and worked in hospital for 24 years and is now a nurse for the local School District.
7. Mama watches my diet and feeds me raw, dad sneaks me junk food when she is not looking.

You all may already know this but my Vets did not. There is a mutant gene called MDR1 found in some herding dogs. These dogs (and I am one of them), may experience toxicity after normals doses of certain drugs. The Washington State University can do a free test for you with just a swab in the mail. Aye there Matey! We have been to the lake a few more times this past month.

Met some cool friends on shore. This girl is Ruby and she is an Aussie like me!

I can't believe I was a puppy once.

I have mixed feelings about this, I need to save you but this open water is kinda scarey.

I got together with my friends Fin and Tally for some fun. They live across the street from me.

It is really great to have such nice neighbors!

Super zoomies! I gotta keep ahead of that little Tally or she will bite my butt.

After all that racing around we had to cool off in the creek ( and get muddy of course!)

Mickie Blue Eyes had the nerve to just jump up and sprawl all over me! Guess I make a mighty fine pillow.

Ah well, he will keep me nice and warm. Just don't wiggle around too much little guy, and no kneading with your claws!

Actually this is rather nice...I could get used to this.

He makes a pretty good foot rest too.

King Crab!

Mom says one of the great reasons to live in Alaska is the abundance of Alaskan King Crab. We have been lucky this year to have been gifted large amounts of King Crab three times this year! Thank you friends and neighbors!

Scarey looking when alive, but oh so delicious with drawn lemon-garlic butter or made into yummy crab cakes!

Mom says cleaning them is hard work and sometimes involves a band-aid or two! But well worth the effort.

This is making me drool... succulent!

Another life saved!

I live in a house with four cats. There are bound to be some bugs, mice and birds killed. However, at least one of our cats just likes to play with them. She will bring them into the house alive, the birds fly around and poop all over the place, the mice run around and play hide and seek, the bugs, well they usually get eaten. Mom does have a big collection of dried dragon flies though.


Karma

Today mom spent three hours trying to catch a little mouse Karma brought in. He was a fast little guy!

Eventually she caught him and returned him to the forest. Another life saved. So far that makes three mice and one bird saved this summer. Keep up the good work mom!

What an awesome day I spent in the park...

Cousin Bev is visiting and mom took us to the mid-town park for the afternoon. The sun was really bright and oh so warm. Bev is really fun and likes to throw the round thingy for me.

The more I jumped the more she would throw it!

I don't need much encouragement!

This is also the park with a lake filled full of ducks and geese! Perfect!

I could use a swim to cool off and get a big drink. It is hot out today!

And waterfowl to entertain me too!

They can even walk (or run) on water. Here they are running to dad and away from me.

I met a friend of mine, Noodles! Sometimes I see Noodles at the dentist office where mom gets her teeth checked. Noodles belongs to one of the nice ladies that work there.

I made a new friend. A very pretty Bull Terrier and she likes to play Frisbee too! Can't beat that.

Dog sitting

My mama has been dog sitting the neighbors dog Chili while they are in Europe. I never cared much for Chili. He is a rescued dog with fear aggression and attacks me. Now he is my arch enemy and I attack him too. I just hate it when mom leaves the backyard to go take care of him. I wait at the property line till she returns. She promised me she won't do this to me again.

He looks all sweet and innocent, but if your a dog you'd best keep your distance!

Mom says the best way to wear him out in a good long bike ride! Despite the look on his face he loves it. Only dangerous for mom if she passes another dog. She learned the hard way to stop and keep a firm grip on him or else he would pull the bike over. You should she her elbow! All bloody and bruised from the first encounter.

Mom here... " Chili is a the sweetest dog with people, just very afraid of other dogs. Poor guy. His folks just got home and brought me the most beautiful silk and cashmere scarf from Verona Italy! But I don't think I will put Ryker through this again, he was so very jealous of the time I spent with Chili."

Mom has been wanting to post pictures of her long passed Welsh Terriers. She said she considered getting one instead of me...holy cow! Can you believe that? I find it hard to wrap my head around. I do think they look like they would be a ton of fun to play with though. We don't have any around here that I have met as yet.

My father got Corkie when I was fresh out of college and living on my own. He was totally in love with this pup.

She was a "Pet Quality" pup, not destine to be a show dog. She was a great pet and devoted companion.

She was daddy's girl, but loving and wonderful with every one.

Dad learned to clip her himself. He did a pretty good job of it.

Corkie LOVED to open packages. She thought every package was for her. She had to be watched very carefully at Christmas time but once Christmas morning came she had to open them all! We spent a lot of time wrapping many milk bones up for her. She had such enthusiasm!

But Corkie's real love she shared with her dad...and that was duck hunting. She put many a retriever to shame on the duck flats. Here she is bringing in a duck.

She loved it so much that when she saw dad starting to pack the car up she would try and hide in the car so he wouldn't forget to take her!

She had an army sleeping bag that was her bed in camp. I don't think there was anyplace that she and dad would rather be than roaming the duck flats.

When Corkie was about five years old dad got a second Welsh Terrier.

Skippy or Skip for short. He was very handsome and sweet as could be.

But little Skip ad problems. He developed terrible seizures that did not respond to medication and before he reached a year of age we had to put him down. It was heartbreaking.

Corkie lived to the age of twelve and died of cancer of the jaw. Welch Terriers will always have a place in my heart. They are wonderful dogs, sweet, curious, energetic, smart and eager to please, a perfect package.

Awesome, the smell of brewing coffee as you wake.

What I did on Memorial Weekend

Mother Nature came through for us and we had lovely weather for the weekend. After giving thanks to all our brave soldiers we set off for Mirror Lake with our blowup boat and Fun Island. Mom bought me a life vest to help me out in the deep water. I must say, I was very excited!

The swimming beach was packed!

The Boat launch was busy too.

Right off the bat I meet another blue eyed Aussie, what a good omen!

OK guys, the water is fine, lets get going, huh?

YeeHaa, were off! This is really cool. I wonder how deep this lake is???

Hummm, gotta think about this a minute or two...

Mom got me a new floating Fris. I think I'm in love!! And this life jacket is pretty cool, but tighten it up a little mom.

CLEO 3/1996 - 4/2011

Well, between the death of my mother in law in February and my mother in April we had to put down our 15 year old cat Cleo. It has really been a rough year for us. We did not want Cleo to go unnoticed, here is a tribute to my little snuggle bunny. Cleo was always curled around my neck when every I laid down. The purring in my ear would lull me to sleep. I don't sleep so well with out you girlfriend, you are truly missed.

Cleo got fat.

Cleo could always find a comfy spot to take a nap.

Then she got sick and skinny. She developed IBS and pancreatitis.She fought it for years.

Through it all she was always my girl.

Then when she seemed to be getting better and gained some weight back she had a stroke and we had her put to sleep to travel the rainbow bridge home.

Good bye my sweet girl. I will miss you till we meet up again. Give your brother Boudy lots of love for me.

I am dedicating this post to my Grandma Connie and a life well lived. She was a great snuggler and dropped me a fair amount of goodies. Sometimes when I was bad I ate her entire dinner and mom had to go make another. I loved my Grandma and I miss her.

Pay close attention to this one George, two Welsh Terriers! Grandma and Grandpa in 1986. I never got to meet my Grandpa. He passed in 1999 at the age of 86. Once again, my mama was at his side when he passed over.

Grandpa love to hunt ducks, all his dogs were duck dogs. He coulda made me into a duck dog too! Mom says he had a way with dogs.

That's right...me! She had one of her kidneys removed in June because it had a cancerous tumor in it. Mom said she made a triumphant recovery. Just look at her after only a month. She is one tough lady.

Get off the porch!

Mom said get off the porch and lets go check out the bald eagles. We have a mated pair of eagles in the next neighborhood that have been there in the Cottonwood tree for at least three years now. So off we went.

Oooh, that is a big nest up there. And while tromping thorough the woods we found the remains of a rabbit that was most likely eagle food. Cool!

Wow, there they are!

Why are they looking at me like that mom, tell them I am no Chihuahua!

Mom said not to worry, that I was a bit big for them to consider me a meal.

Maybe I'll join the Audubon Society and become a bird watcher. This is fun! Hey mom, lets come back here again and check on these guys. Maybe we can see the babies next month?

We are having a Celebration of my mom's life on Mothers Day. After that we have less than two weeks of school left. It will be time to get out in the garden and that is always therapeutic.
I am an only child of two of the most wonderful parents a girl could ask for. They didn't spoil me except for love. Bought me up with good values and an appreciation for all that life has to offer.
Mom has lived with us for seven years so she leaves behind a big empty spot that I am trying to fill with wonderful memories, of which I have a lot.

Not unusual, I have seen it snow in May. But then I have also heard that mom has been out in shorts in April... not this year mom!

Status Quo

So things are status quo here. Mom likes her reduced work hours, she can spend more time caring for GM. We have a lovely young lady who cares for her when mom goes to work 4 hours a day. I of course stay home and watch out over her too!

I have other duties around the house...like pre-washing the dishes.

And helping Mort patrol the yard for invaders.

My Second Birthday is coming up soon, this coming Thursday the 7th! A big box arrived the other day and mom says it is for me but we can't open it till the 7th. Man o man, I wish I could reach it and rip it open right now! I am no good at waiting!

So there you have it, we are plodding along. Oh, forgot to mention it snowed twice this last week. Even I am getting a bit tired of the snow.

I would like to Thank You all again for the outpouring of concern and well wishes for our family during these tough times of loss and illness. You are the best!

Comfort One

Hello to all my friends.
My Grandma is not doing well and my mom has had to rearrange her work schedule to half time so she can keep her mom at home as she can no longer tolerate going to adult day care. She has a lovely young lady that takes care of her for four hours a day while she goes to work at a nearby school. Hospice has been contacted and Grandma is kept comfortable with Morphine and Ativan.
Times are hard for my mom right now and I am working hard to keep her happy. She tells me I am doing a great job.
We lost Cleo our calico cat last weekend. She had a stroke and lost function of her backside and had to be put to rest. They say things happen in threes. Thank you all for your well wishes. You are kind and supportive and we love you all.
Mom says she will get back to posting soon, we miss you!

Australian Shepherd: An adoptable dog in Kent, WA

Dexter is one of the MARS Mini Aussies that was used in filming Marley & Me 2, release date June 2011. Mr. Dexter is for a serious Aussie fan only! At about 17 months old, he's super smart, high drive, and has potential with a capital P. Dexter easily learns anything asked of him, has excellent obedience skills, and quite a repertoire of tricks. But that's not enough for Dexter - he craves positive training sessions and would excel in Rally-Obedience or Agility. Dexter needs a lot of exercise daily, as well as mental stimulation. He easily hikes for two hours with other dogs, then after a nap - he's good to go again! Unfortunately Dexter's drive was stronger than his body and he recently had corrective knee surgery for a severe luxating patella. Dexter is on the road to 100% recovery, and he'll be able to run, jump and play with ease once his knee is fully recovered. He is already back to hiking an hour an hour a day. Dexter will also be able to do agility starting in September 2011, and his knee should never bother him again. Dexter loves to run with other dogs, or play fetch outside. He has high food and toy drive which is excellent for training! He can also settle nicely and amuse himself around the house, or cuddle up and watch a movie with you. Dexter currently lives peacefully with several other dogs, and hikes with other dogs with no issues. Dexter has been to doggy daycare and he has his own fan club among the staff. Dexter is a fantastic dog, who will make anyone proud - but sadly Dexter does have a few issues. He has moderate separation anxiety, meaning he cannot be left alone for long periods of time. He can handle up to one hour left alone in the house with the other dogs before he starts to get anxious. He is fine if he can ride around in your vehicle with you. Therefore, shopping and dining aren't a problem if Dexter is hanging out in the car, which is great - until the hot summer months. If you are interested in adopting Dexter please consider that he will need to go to work with you, or to doggy daycare when unable to be with you. Dexter is crate trained and is quiet in his crate in the care. Hes fine crated at home or at the office as long as you are close by. Since Dexter likes to go everywhere with his foster mom, we have worked very hard to make sure Dexter is polite and well behaved in public. He can even hold a long down-stay in busy public places. Dexter shows a keen interest in cats. He has learned to not get too close but he is not to be trusted around cats who are not totally comfortable around dogs. Dexter is also wary of young children - when they run fast it startles him and he barks at them. Dexter happily takes treats from calm, quiet kids, but he would not be happy in a home with kids, or where kids are frequent visitors. Dexter would do best in an active home that has a keen interest in dog training. He is a VERY rewarding dog to work with!

The adoption donation is $250. All dogs are microchipped, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, and accompanied by all available vet records. stopper pad guards

Some of you may remember that I tore open my stopper pad in early February and had to have it stitched back together and limit my boundless energy for three weeks. Here is my pad after the three weeks...

And now after a month it is looking really good...

Since I tend to scrape them up routinely mom has found me some Stopper Pad Guards. She bought these but thinks she will make my next pair as they look pretty easy.

These are popular with the agility and fly ball dogs.

We tested them out at the dog park and they are pretty comfy. I left them alone and they stayed on with no problem.

I think they look pretty sharp and mom says they were a conversation piece at the park because no other dog had a pair.

So for you rough and tumble scramblers out there this may be the ticket for you too!

Hi friends, sorry to be away for such a long time but my dads mom went to heaven. Things have been topsy tervy around here.
Mom had been sick but is feeling better and my Grandma that lives with us was just in the ER and also doing better. Even dad has a bad cold from the airplane flight.

Mom says things are getting better now and although I am sad for dad and his sister we still have things to be thankful for.

There are a lot of words that mom can't say out loud around me. She has to spell them out till I learn to spell.

Park is one of them, unless she wants to elicit frenzied activity with whining and howling of course. She generally waits till we are very close to said location before uttering the sacred word.

Such is the plight of an only dog.

Do I detect some Pee Mail?

Luckily mom understands and does her best to get me doggy interaction as often as possible.

Once a month they have an evening bonfire get together by the lake. Good ole' die hard Alaskans!

Nice view to look at, food and drink, warm fire. Sounds like fun to me. Mom says we can't stay because we have to get home to take care of Grandma. That's OK with me, Grandma is fun too.

OK mom, my feet are cold. I'm ready to go home now.

It was a snow covered sunny day at the Park. Now I'm headed home for some chow. Hope all my friends are having a great day as well. Catch ya later!
