Friday night I was having a great time chasing my stick through the brush when all of a sudden my left eye began to hurt. When we got home I kept pawing at it. It hurt but hurt worse when I would paw at it. Finally I left it alone but mom kept checking at and Saturday afternoon she said she could see two small splinters in it. She called the 24 hour Vet line and they said I had to come in and be seen.

Hey, there's a black cat in this bag! |
Look just to the right of my brown fleck and you can see the two tiny splinters embedded in my eye. The Vet said they had to come out and I would have to under go minor surgery. Mom and I waited three hours there till they could do it because an emergency case came in. I think she was more worried about me that I was. They took me away and when brought me back the splinters were gone.
I did not feel so good till the next day and mom hung out with me all night till I was feeling better. I feel fine now but I have to have a bunch of eye drops and a pill to take every day for a week.
Mom says no more playing in that area where all the sticker bushes are. She said she will have to be real careful where she throws my stick cuz I am a wild man when I go after it.

Oh no, Ryker! I'm glad they were able to get those splinters out! I hope you're feeling better!

I am so sorry you had splinters in your eye. Boy oh boy...of all the crazy things! We sure hope that your eye heals really, really fast. I bet it was wonderful that your mom hung out with you all night. Poor little baby...get better real soon, okay.

Poor, Ryker. I'm glad everything turned out so well. Must have been nerve racking for you, too, Sandy. These boys and their sticks ... Bandit picks them up, no matter their size, and what usually gets whacked are my ankles! Have fun out there, Ryker, but be careful with those sticks!
ReplyDeleteYikes, that's scary. But I'm glad you were able to let your mom know something was wrong so she could get you to the vet before your eye got worse. Take it easy and I hope you fully recover in no time.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are tiny, but so glad they are out. You've got to close your eyes when you dive into those bushes, and find the stick by smell!
ReplyDeleteOh no Ryker!! Glad you are ok! Maybe if you look real sad when mom gives you the eye drops you'll get extra treats!
ReplyDeleteOh Ryker! Be careful with those beautiful eyes next time! Glad you are feeling better :)

Oh Sweetie! I am so sorry that happened to you. I hope you get well really fast and don't have any more pain. I hope your Mom feels better too. I know how hard it is on the Humans when we get hurt!

The joys of the emergency vet. We have been several times. We saw a little dog that ate a whole bag of chocolate and a cat with a fishing hook stuck in it's mouth. They must see it all at that place!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your eye, that sounds scary. Get well soon and no more sticker bushes!!
Wyatt
Ouchy! So glad your Mom took you to the vet and got those bad ol' stickers OUT!
ReplyDeleteBe good and take your meds now :)
Waggin at ya,

Oh no, splinters in the eye, that sounds so scary. Luckily your mom spotted them and took you to the vet and I am so glad they are gone now. Phew, it's a relief to hear that you're feeling much better too. Listen to the vet and have the eye drops and pills everyday as they help you recover soon!
ReplyDeleteOw! Poor Ryker. I get crazy when a speck gets in my eye. I can't imagine how awful that must have felt. Feel better soon!

Wow! I'm so glad your mom got your eye checked! You don't want to risk your sight. I hope everything heals nicely, and your on the road to recovery! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYeeouch! That sounds painful! I was rubbing my eye, just reading about it. I'm glad you got it all taken care of, though.
