Remembering my Grandma in pictures

q

Mom

Cheerful contagious smile,
Blue eyes sparkling,
Skin soft and paper thin,
Love spills out.

~Sandy S.

I am dedicating this post to my Grandma Connie and a life well lived.  She was a great snuggler and dropped me a fair amount of goodies.  Sometimes when I was bad I ate her entire dinner and mom had to go make another.  I loved my Grandma and I miss her.

Grandma and her mama, 1924, Faulkton, South Dakota.

The entire school, GM is in the middle of the back row.

GM Connie and her mom Maggie

GM (left) and one of her girlfriends in their late teens.

My mom loves this photo of GM.  She is so pretty!

Bet there are pin curls under that wrap! he he

GM Connie met GP Bill during WWII, fell in love and married when the war ended.  A very handsome couple!

The next day he told her "Were moving to Alaska!"

welcome to the 80's                                                                                Mom and Grandma

Pay close attention to this one George, two Welsh Terriers!  Grandma and Grandpa in 1986. I never got to meet my Grandpa. He passed in 1999 at the age of 86.  Once again, my mama was at his side when he passed over.

Grandpa love to hunt ducks, all his dogs were duck dogs.  He coulda made me into a duck dog too!  Mom says he had a way with dogs.

    GM turns 82!

GM moved in with my mama and dad  in 2004.  Here she is with her niece Bev.

Grandma Connie's 89th Birthday,  July 2009                                       She is still a beauty!

And guess what she got for her birthday???
That's right...me!  She had one of her kidneys removed in June because it had a cancerous tumor in it.  Mom said she made a triumphant recovery.  Just look at her after only a month.  She is one tough lady.

So you may have seen the rest of the photos here on my blog.

                           February 2011

Grandma Connie passed over two months after this picture was taken April 5th 2011.  I will always love and remember my Grandma.  She was kind, loving, happy and always lit up the room with her smiles and her sparkling blue eyes.  I miss you Grandma!

GRANDMA CONNIE  1920-2011

   CONNIE

How can I begin to express,
The love that exists,
From a daughter for her mother,
Life created thus.

Fed and nurtured,
Bettered and feathered,
Like a little nest.
Grown is the hatching,
Gone is the mother,
Memories like a broken shell,
Are all that remain.
