Bears and Summer Fun!

Oh my, where to start?  Weather here has been windy, partly sunny one day and rain the next.  Bears are out trying to take advantage of Moose calving season.  We had a brown bear spotted just one house down from us.
Unfortunately it was shot and killed the next day, very sad.

This is a photo of a black bear and her three cubs taken in Anchorage as they cross a neighborhood street.

We do not see many bears in our neighborhood so it was exciting.  We are not pleased with the outcome as the bear was not showing aggression but had just killed a moose calf.  That's what bears do, they have to eat too.

Anyhow,  when the weather is fine you know where you'll find me...
Just doing the Awesome Aussie Tuck!

And helping mama with the garden...

So I have learned it is better to be a dog in the yard than a bear in the hood.  Happy Summer!

Latest Puppy movie...

Indoor play is always a good choice when it is raining.

 No Frisbee in the house!

The Holey Roller ball works just great indoors!

Mama tries to bring the garden inside...

So if you got rain, don't let it get you down.

There is always fun to be had.
It's all in the attitude!
And Mama says I got plenty of that!

Thank you for all the well wishes. I want  you to know that your comments are very touching and healing. I am feeling really good again. I just have IV Herceptin treatments every 3 weeks  until September and then I will be completely done with  treatment.  My Doctors say I have done remarkably well and am considered cancer free!!!
Time to break out that $80.00 bottle of wine I received for Christmas and celebrate!!!
~Love you all,
Sandy

The view from the gardens on Memorial Day

Puppies are 4.5 weeks old now, You can watch them at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vswe2GZQGSo&feature=channel&list=UL

Here is a photo of me when I was about that age...
Mama says she can hear the "Awww's"  : )

Summer is here, mama is off work recuperating from her radiation therapy.  Her energy has been low but seems to improve dramatically on a sunny day!   She is out in the garden on those days and tossing the ball that I place directly under her nose.  The vegetable garden is all planted and ready to grow.  The flower beds are coming along nicely.

My water fountain is flowing nicely.

The shooting stars are about to take off!

Little ferns have spread happily through the garden, much to our delight.

The Rodi is in bloom  : )

Sweet violets...
So there you have it.  Dad cleaned the carpets yesterday and mama is thinking the deck needs a new coat of stain.  I was pretty rough on it last year and during the winter.  The grass is ready for its first mow of the year.  Don't you just love summer?!?

eyes open and almost gone

The puppies eyes are open, and they are growing fast...  2 weeks old already!

Lots of tongue action going on this week!

What is almost gone?  The snow!
Here is the last little patch, it will be gone tomorrow.

More flowers are blooming and the grass is turning green.

“Lenten Rose” (Helleborus orientalis) is actually a member of the buttercup family. Its flowers bloom during the Christian celebration of Lent, hence the name. Originally from the Caucasus Mountains, helleborus has long been a favorite in the U.S. This perennial, early-blooming wonder is a joyful winter buster.

And what am I up too?

Duh!  Need you ask!

A dog needs a good drink after a hard round of Frisbee.

Less than two weeks of school left and mama will be off work.  It's gonna be a great summer!
