Vickie from "Bert Did It" came to Alaska!

This is not a Wordless Wednesday today.  It is instead a link to a blogging friends post.  Vickie from the blog  http://bertdidit.blogspot.com/ 
came up here to Alaska to see the sights and to meet Ryker!  We had a fun time together.  Only thing missing was Bert!  He stayed home in Utah.

We drove up to Flat Top Mt. for a good view of the Anchorage bowl.  We also took a nice stroll around Taku lake.  A friendly beaver even swam up to say hello...

Summer Glorious Summer!

We have been having such lovely weather the past two weeks!

Sunshine and flowers...

Some nice spots of shade...

Beauty everywhere...

Inside and out...

 But mama says...

That I am the most beautiful of all.

I understand that cuz that is how I feel about her.

Coastal Trail and Westchester Lagoon

Well, it has been a while.  Summer is here even though we didn't have spring.  And I now have blisters on my foot pads from having too much fun!

 We spent some time on the Coastal Trail on a windy sunny day.

Westchester Lagoon  is a waterfowl area.  Here is Papa Mallard.

If you look closely you can make out the babies on the mud below the cat-tails.

This is a shot of the mud flats and Sleeping Lady ( Mt. Susitna ) in the background.

This is looking east across the lagoon.

I got hot running around and decided to take a dip!

 It was pretty chilly but felt really good.

 What can I say...I can pop up out of the water like the Loc Ness Monster!

I love to get right up close to mama and give a good shake!

Getting a little dizzy!

Can you believe that these ducks were trying to steal my ball...it's true!

Mama has always liked these townhomes on the Lagoon.  She thinks they look very nautical.

On the south side are more modern homes.

And on the home front mama got the garden planted this week.  Every sunny day you will find her out in the yard working on the gardens and flower beds.

 The flower baskets have been hung.

And all is well here.  Sorry we were away from Blogland for so long.   But no worries, we are back at it now!

Popcorn!

Even a busy guy like me needs downtime once in awhile.

Maybe even upside downtime!

And I have an eye witness.

"These feet smell like popcorn"

"That's OK with me.  I like popcorn!"

The snow is gone! NOT!

Spring is here but everything is still brown.

It took three days for this last little patch of snow to go!

High temps are on the 50's.  Voles did damage to the shrubs again over the winter, chewing away at the bark along the base of the plants. These plants are dead now.

The moose had their fun of course...happens every year!  The trellis has been screwed to the house but they still pry it away in their desire for Clematis.

 I don't care that it's brown, but mama says the dead grass is ugly and I am tracking it all over the house.

Don't worry mama, It will turn green soon!

And at least it is no longer a big soggy mess here in the back yard!

You can't rush Mother Nature!

What happened to Global Warming?
