That's right, its time to take a stroll through mom's flower garden and sniff all the flowers in bloom.
First off are mom's new hydrangeas. She fell in love with the new color and plans to winter them over in a greenhouse so she can enjoy them again next summer.
Here is a pretty clematis tucked up against the house for warmth.
Lilacs have scented the yard...
An oriental poppy about to pop!
This is grandma's shade garden. Mama planted it outside her bedroom window so she would have something pretty to look at.
Here are some other assorted pretties...
So there you have it, a little taste of summer in Alaska. We live our summers hard and fast as the snow can come as early as late September. Summer is short but sweet!
On our next stroll we will take a look at the edibles growing in our yard.
I promised to pass this "Dear Sixteen Year Old Me" video for all my friends enjoying the summer sunshine.

Wow! Those are some amazing flowers! We've never seen that color of hydrangea - we only have the regular purply blue ones and white ones here. We would LOVE to see that oriental poppy when it POPS, okay??? Thanks for taking us on your garden tour. We have lots of garden tours here in SC, but we do believe your garden rivals anything we've seen in those "pay for a tour" gardens here. Beeyootiful!

What a lovely yard you have. The pictures of the flowers are amazing. All those colors and smells. I bet you feel like you live in heaven.
ReplyDeleteIs your season long enough to grow some tomatoes and sweet peas. If that is so, then I am sure you live in heaven.
Take Care

Gorgeous flowers, Ryker! But you're more handsome! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers and you look cute next to them of course.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely garden. It's interesting to see what you have blooming, in your compressed season, and how things bloom at different times with different things.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good video. I had Basil Cell Carcinoma (the 'best, form of skin cancer to get) removed in my mid twenties, so I'm well aware of the dangers of too much sun. Unfortunately though I had my share of bad burns when younger, and I'm fair skinned and freckled.
I'm sending that video on to my two kids.
