Well, you can't live long in Alaska with out trying your paw at gold panning. At least that was my experience. It also makes for fun male bonding time with dad.
He chose the Little Susitna River for this adventure.
Do you see any gold, huh dad, huh???
Well, we did get some flakes of gold. Enough to want to come back and do it again!
So there is gold in these here hills and streams. Pawing for gold is fun!

I think the real gold can be found in your surroundings. You live in such a beautiful place.

So which is the more effective technique? Panning for gold or digging, using your snooter??

I have to admit dad found the gold with his techniques, but I struck mud!!!
ReplyDeleteJust enough gold found to get dad (who's too shy to show his face I see) hooked!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures could have been taken in BC, which has it's own history of gold. Lovely!
Bet the water was cold though, and hope you found a good spot in it to have a bit of a swim, looks like you might have needed one:)
PS Beautiful header picture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! It reminds me of our St. Francis River. Glad to hear you struck (at least a little) gold!
