We have ducks that stay here for the winter and don't fly south with their brethren. Silly ducks!
We call them City Ducks. Here are some Mallard Drakes. How can those colors be real???
I feel a little sad that they aren't down south soaking up the sun with their smarter cousins.
I know their feet get cold!
They need pads and fur on there little feet.
And maybe a fur coat, cuz we just had another snow storm and it's cold out!
.
Those Mallad Drakes are so gorgeous. Hope the spring comes soon so it won't be too cold for them.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! Yes, I would think they'd all leave to go someplace warm! What do they do if the water freezes? (sorry, but only memories of snow and ice were only until age 12 in Connecticut). I sure would love to see that in person! Lovely shot of Ryker too!!! He's soooo pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteMOM and I always say the same thing, "How can those colors be real." I love ducks. Bawhahhah "city ducks". Enjoy your snow.

We see tons of mallard pairs on our walks. Those guys in AK are just plain silly, though! BBBUUUUURRRRR!!!!
ReplyDelete'Course, we saw some Canada Geese last week! What's up with that???

Well, nobody has accused ducks of being overly brilliant, but they are pretty to look at -- and they make a tasty stew!

Brrrr... although ducks with fur might look a bit silly. :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a small lake behind our house that has many resident Canadian geese and a few mallards, too. It's hard to believe that they can happily paddle around in the icy water!

Thats some pretty ducks maybe a little crazy, don't their butts freeze in that water?

Those ducks are beautiful. Do they taste like chicken?
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Those ducks sure are cute. Love your new header photo to :)
ReplyDeleteAww, those ducks deserve a sunny vacation once a year. The geese just started coming back from their vacation and Beamer's found himself a buffet of their poop.
ReplyDeleteLove the e-card picture. That's how I feel 99% of the time :)
We have them in the south UK but it's so cold minus 1 today..Poor little things they should be sitting on their eggs now, not freezing their butts off. xx00xx

Oh those Mallards are gorgeous! Nice for you all that they stuck around for the Winter :)
