Backyard Encounter

I was just minding my own business playing Frisbee in the back yard with Mama and who should appear...

but another one of them pesky moose.  I am not a big fan of moose invading my home space.

This one seemed real curious about what I was up too.  We have had a lot of snow this year and the moose are hungry and crabby.

It just kept on coming with it's head down, not sure what that meant but I finally dropped my Frisbee and high-tailed it up onto the porch.

It walked right up to my Frisbee and gave it a good sniff.  Guess it was wondering what all the fuss was about.  It did not seem as impressed with my toy as I am.  Silly moose!  Mama says they aren't very bright.

I gave it a few good barks just to assert my territorial dominance before mama called me into the house and closed the cat door.  Oh, the indignity of it all.  That moose had better leave my Frisbee alone or I will have to kick it's butt!

  1. The moose looks big and scary, Ryker!

But you're a brave boy! I hope your frisbee is still there waiting for you to play with it again.

  4. Well, you know My Vickie thinks they are the most precious looking critters ever and she was very excited to see one in your backyard. Boy you are so lucky. We have to drive up into the hills and hike an hour to see ours.

However. You did right by leaving the frisbee and going in the house. That one was a very curious over your game. I want you to be safe, but I am also glad your human got those cool pictures.

You are such a lucky dog.

  5. Pretty cool to see the moose so close, but it scares me to think of the damage it could do to you Ryker with those big feet. Seems a bit too tame for my liking. Viewing through a window seems to be the best option:)

  10. I think you could take him Ryker, but it's ok to wait it out indoors. No need to show him up or anything. ;)

  11. That moose probably thought you had a big pancake or something yummy. Poor thing must be hungry, maybe he wants to come in for dinner.

  14. Oh Ryker. That looked pretty darned scary! We have moose here (I captured one with my trail cam last summer) but nowhere near as many as you do. And, everyone tells me that moose are more dangerous than bear or cougars. I'm glad that huge moose didn't hurt you, Ryker. Wow.

  15. Wow...that was close! He sure was interested in what you were doing! I can't believe you have so much snow (we have none, zip, zero) and moose visitors! I think it's rather boring here.
