Greenhousing and Bingo update

Yeah, after weeks of clouds and rain we have a sunny day!  We have had the coldest July on record!  This last winter we broke a thirty year snowfall record.  Those of you that are complaining about the heat, come on up here an cool off!

Mama love greenhouses, the humidity and color explosions! Today we spent a good hour strolling around one of our favorites.

I love it here.  Good smells, good fun, they even have a watering hole for me!

I helped mama pick out some new additions to our garden.

Alaska State Flower - Forget-me-not

Wow, I am awash in color and scent!

So run, don't walk to your nearest greenhouse and enjoy!

Bingo update...
Bingo has been in his new home for a week now.  The couple who adopted him have another mini Aussie about the same age.  It is going well and we are going to visit him in his new home tomorrow. His new name is Riley.  Can't wait to play with him again!

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.
I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someones life.

She got down on her knees and made little kiss sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.
Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

  1. That greenhouse sure looks pretty. That water hole looks like fun, did you jump in?

    YEAHHH for Bingo! :)

  2. Oh, sounds great for Riley(Bingo)!
I've spent some time in my favourite greenhouse/garden center just lately. They are clearing out their beautiful hanging baskets for $7.98. I bought 3 on Saturday and transplanted them into big pots and planters. I went back today for three more. I might not be done yet:)

  3. RYKER....
I love, love, love the fifth picture of you!! Cute!! You looks as though you're some African lioness hunting her prey!! ;)
I loved the closing story. It was beautiful!! I only wish that we knew who wrote that!! This story touched my heartstrings. In its second sentence!! I kept thinking about my Rose.... I am going to keep this, and, perhaps sometime in the near future, I'll post it on my Blog!! Thanks for sharing it!! ;op
Love, Raelyn.... And Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!

  4. Hello Rykie,,,,,Beautiful photos once again,,,,and an entertaining visit. Hurray for Bingo,,,and thanks for the touching tale of an adoption.

  5. I love going to the garden store too, Ryker, 'cept we don't have a nice pool like you do. Probably they know I'd be in it...

The Rescue a Human story was very moving. I think more of that species needs rescuing!

  6. It was a bit hard to see the beautiful flowers through misty eyes. Such a sweet little story.

I'm so happy that Bingo's new home is working out well!
