Summer Project

It was a rough winter on the flora this year.

Mama lost several of her plants and the backyard grass did not do well.

The front lawn came in pretty good and looks great now but the back yard was my frisbee zone and mama says that must have something to do with it.

20 yards of topsoil landed on our driveway!

And ended up in our backyard, thanks to some young bucks.

Dad ordered a bucnch of that new "Cutting Edge" grass seed hoping that it will hold up better.  Soon we will have a new lush, green backyard!  But for now I play frisbee in the front yard.

Taku Lake Cool Off

Weather is warm again up here...good time to head to the closest lake and cool off.  Taku lake is a man made lake that was a gravel quarry many years ago.  It sits right beside Campbell Creek and is home to many birds, fish and beaver.  Mama likes to swim there and so do I.

There are many trails around the lake and along the creek.  But today mama and dad took me to the edge of the lake to swim...

Being a multi-tasker I like to swim and fetch!

Dad is the better thrower...I bring the frisbee back to him rather than mama.

Come on dad, throw a really good one!

Sweet!

Would you believe that some dogs don't go swimming???  What's up with that?

They are missing out big time!

We saw our beaver again... love this guy!

He swims better than me but I have not seen him fetch yet.

I could do this all day long...

But the folks got tired and we had to leave after about an hour.

I gave a good shake,

toweled off

and headed off into the sunset !

Catch ya all later!

More Summer Beauty...

Summer is so colorful after a long white winter...I love all the color!

This is my favorite watering hole.  I have a bowl around back but this one tastes best.  Cool and refreshing on my tongue!

Mama, you made the star attraction all blurry.  Silly mama!

The Lilacs make the front yard smell really nice.  I like to hang out here this time of year.

The Iris are also blooming.  Mama got these from her dads garden about 30 years ago!

Enjoy the colors and smells of summer!

Happy 4th of July

Today is Independence Day!

"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave."  ~Elmer Davis

" I prefer liberty with danger to peace with slavery. "

"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." ~Abraham Lincoln

"Freedom is never free."
"There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America."

And party we will!  Only thing I am not looking forward to is the fireworks.  Mama will get out the Rescue Remedy and snuggle with me tonight.  It doesn't get dark but people still like their loud noises.

Mama is making red-white-and-blue strawberry treats to take to the picnic.  Our friends have a HUGE picnic every 4th of July, but no dogs allowed.  I think she should just stay home with me and we can have our own picnic here.

I hope all my friends and family have a wonderful Holiday.
