Mom is back to work, * heavy sigh*.   She was busy this week helping to get the kids registered for school. She checks their health history with the parents and makes sure their shots are up to date.  The kids don't come back till the 16th but mom has seminars and in-services and other things to do to prepare for their arrival.
But she hasn't totally forgot me...

I've been to the dog park.

Made a new friend. His name is Arttie and he is half Pitty and half Corgie.  He is a gentleman and a ball to play with as he likes to chase and be chased just like me. For a change I got to do the chasing!

We met another blue eyed Aussie! He was very nice.  I find some a bit over bearing but he was very kind to me.

Oh, look, he still has his tail!  What a lucky guy he is.  I wish I had a tail!  Well, I do have a stub of a tail.  When I wag it my whole but wags with it!

We met this crazy girl on our way out.  Boy was she wound up tight!

I think she wanted to eat me for lunch!  No worries though, just exuberant play!

Mom says she apologizes for not blogging much the past week and she will try and do better.  We'll see...

Love the Saturday Farmers Market!

Saturdays in the summer we get up early and go to the local farmers market.  They have another Huge Saturday Market downtown with some fresh produce, tons of art work and other stuff.  It has a lot of cooked foods and is really set up for the tourist trade.

We go to our little one near our house to get fresh eggs and produce.  It is a great place to meet and greet my doggy friends and get oh so much attention from all the people.

Folks are kind enough to drop food all over the ground which makes us happy to perform our cleaning duties.

Mom has a list made up for this up coming Saturday...eggs, corn, bread, a free head of lettuce!

And from the Red Beet stand she wants to try their rhubarb strawberry juice.  We have a bunch of rhubarb and strawberries to harvest at home.  "Excuse me, waitress!  I'd like some of that fresh squeezed juice for my mama and I'll have a raw steak and bowl of milk please."

What do you mean?

What do you mean the world doesn't revolve around me? Can that be???

Mama said today she is taking over the blog to share photos of some of our other finned and furry household friends!  Well, maybe just this once.  Cuz I really do believe the world revolves around me, I do.


Mama has a 55 gallon fish tank that sits between the entry area and the living room.  In it are many different kinds of fish, most of them Rainbow fish from Australia.  Do you detect a theme there? Australian fish, Australian Shepherd???   Anyhow they are very colorful for freshwater fish and she has had them longer than she has had me so they are really old!

She has red, turquoise , Praecox, Boeseman's and thread fin rainbow fish.


This is the Red Rainbow.  Looks like you need to clean the glass on that tank mom!

Mom says they look like hump back salmon or Humpy's.

This photo is a bit blurry but really shows the intense color of these fish.

What do they have in common?  Both are handsome, charming, sexy, happy, easy going, athletic, intense, and a little silly.  They  have a certain innocence and modesty that I find endearing. Both have great smiles and like dogs!  Ewan recently adopted a shelter dog after falling in love with the dog staring in his latest movie  "Beginners".

I fell in love with Ewan when I first discovered him in Moulin Rouge, even though I had seen him in other films prior. Now I never miss a movie with him in it.

awesome...going to the big screen to see a good movie with buttered unhealthy popcorn!

Strolling Time

That's right, its time to take a stroll through mom's flower garden and sniff all the flowers in bloom.

First off are mom's new hydrangeas.  She fell in love with the new color and plans to winter them over in a greenhouse so she can enjoy them again next summer.

Here is a pretty clematis tucked up against the house for warmth.

This is grandma's shade garden.  Mama planted it outside her bedroom window so she would have something pretty to look at.

So there you have it, a little taste of summer in Alaska.  We live our summers hard and fast as the snow can come as early as late September.  Summer is short but sweet!

On our next stroll we will take a look at the edibles growing in our yard.

Post Bath time is Fun Time!

I don't like getting a bath...

But when the water goes off and the towels come out I go nuts and have a ball!

After a good rub down mom shouts "Toweley" and I run to my big towel and roll, wiggle and squirm like a little maniac!

I jump up, spin around, shake, and then throw myself back down on my towel and do it all again.  Mom and Dad laugh and laugh at me.  We all have a fun time!

The cats all run and hide. They just don't get it.

Now if we could just skip the soap and water stuff it would be fine with me.  Mom and Dad ohh and ahh over how good I smell and how fluffy my coat is.  I feel special  : )




Baths aren't all bad.

1.  My dad is a geek and proud of it.
2.  My mama has so many hobbies, she just loves to make things and grow things. She can't wait to retire so she can spend more time doing the things she loves most. And top of the list is me!
3.  Mom and dad don't have any children, me and the cats are their kids.
4.  Mama loves all animals and loves to scuba dive.  She has even dove in the cold waters here in Alaska.
5.  Mama was born in Anchorage, Territory of Alaska just before it became a State.
6.  Mama is a pediatric nurse and worked in hospital for 24 years and is now a nurse for the local School District.
7.  Mama watches my diet and feeds me raw, dad sneaks me junk food when she is not looking.
